How dare you. That is  sexism at its highest point. I knew about two girls who played machines.

Who else lives in England?

There are probably girls on this site, they just don't admit it. In truth, girls on the internet tend to get constantly messaged and stalked. Or atleast they use to, so they now have this mindset to not reveal themselves as girls on the internet.

There's also that saying:
G uy
I n
R eal
L ife

Just to let you know, this is the first time I've been on a forum with a topic named Gender.

On a side note, girls don't seem to like action RTS games. They seem to be more into The Sims, Tycoon games, and Wii Sports.

I tried to get my girlfriend to play Oblivion. She spent most of her time shooting arrows at a barrell in the character creation level. Enough said.
Title: Re: Gender
Post by: nonohino on May 02, 2008, 02:08:34 pm
Just so you know, i'm not a girl, but I happen to respect the opposite sex more than a lot of people!
Tohom, Perhaps she enjoyed shooting the barrell because she was inqusitive.?

The reason I started this topic was to see how both sexes felt about each other, that dosent mean I want sexist comments, constructive comments are appreciated though!
eg. "girls are friendly warm and all together a good time"
Title: Re: Gender
Post by: Tohom on May 02, 2008, 02:36:02 pm
I don't believe you took what I said the right way. What I meant is that the girls I've seen play games like Machines or Oblivion just don't get into it. I wasn't being sexist, I was merely commenting on observations.

There's nothing wrong with shooting at a barrell, believe me. I mean, the objects move very realistically, and the arrows can even be retrieved, as you could in real life. But that's not the point of the game. You're supposed to do it once, then move on (it's part of the Tutorial). The way I see it, girls just don't get in the right mood for those games. They seem to prefer immediate rewards, like blowing up a car in GTA, or making Sims go shopping.

True.
I happened to have a brief encounter with a woman who was pretty much the female dreamt up by the hacker generation.
Although up until tonight I'd never spoken to anyone at all who'd played Machines, let alone them being of the fairer gender.
...shame she was taken, though (just sod's law kicking in).

Dear nonohino, you seem somehow euphoristic about girl-boy-relationships. Somehow too euphoristic.

First, not every girl is nice. There are enough female humans on earth who are sinister or cursory. When you finally "have the luck" to get in a relationship with one of these, you should be aware that is not mistreating you. Respect may be a good thing, but it may never escalate to blind loyalty or even bondage. I would suggest everyone to keep an eye on him/herself while in relationship, or else you could get hurt, mistreated or disappointed.

@nonohino:Aah here comes  Mr.LoveGuru(no offense).I take it u must be having a gf?

I beg on you! As I read this I thought:
"How can people who spend most of their time in front of the PC be so blind when they hear somebody speaking about love relationships?"
I mean, being in a relationship is NOT a rare thing, even if that appears to computer-nerds. I think that overestimating a post like that proves that the stereotype of the nerd is unfortanetly and sadly true. You never had any idea of girls or women before, had you?
Title: Re: Gender
Post by: nonohino on June 26, 2008, 02:20:45 pm
I understand what your saying in the first half as I too have had enough experience with girls to know who are nice and who arent. Think i was talking about when your in a relationship with a NICE girl, not any old thing who happens to walk in the room when you think you need a girl. As for the second half of your comment, it seems your having a streek of bringing people down at the moment since you replied to 2 of my posts with comments that weren't needed. In this world basicly life is too short to spend it arguing with our petty differences, we need to short out or ship out and that includes you! (if your not a computer geek how come your at Knight rank?)
Title: Re: Gender

It is quite hard to read your sentences... however:

As for the second half of your comment, it seems your having a streek of bringing people down at the moment since you replied to 2 of my posts with comments that weren't needed.

I am not seeking to bring anybody down, i am just trying to bring some sense to the crap you are apparently producing. Now I realized why I always tried to avoid offtopic threads, as they are not intended to be rational correct but somehow funny (in a way I do not like).
You said that my posts are not needed at all? You are insulting me a spammer because I try to express my personal opinion to your off-topics and the (more or less) blindfold posts?

Fine, I will retreat myself from your off-topics and let you produce senseless things without any attention of mine.

In this world basicly life is too short to spend it arguing with our petty differences, we need to short out or ship out and that includes you! (if your not a computer geek how come your at Knight rank?)

Life is definetely not too short to express your own opinion or to make some things clear. Otherwise everyone would live for his own and would not have to care about injustice, racism, war and the things like that. Don't you see that we CAN actually talk about different points of view and gain new experiences by doing so? I may be a rational thinker, but this does not allow you to tell me I should hold my mouth shut in order to leave your posts uncommented.

I may have more posts than you and I may be on Knight rank. But the difference to other guys on the internet I am trying to hold a distance between my time sitting at the computer and the time being alive. I just don't exclude experiences from the one world from the other, I connect them. I do not call me a computer geek because I do have many sides of personality without ever neglecting one of them or being blind to the real life.

Well then, I'm all for multi-viewed, forums. And it would be a great shame if you were (technically speaking) to "clamp your mouth shut". It seems I must once again appologise to you, sorry! Dont ignore the comments in life some people spend 65% of their time not communicating, dont let one of them be you!

Hey,
I don't want to take sides in your guys' fight here, but when nonhino was trying to make a kind post with a few of his thoughts, you pretty much just insulted him,

"I am just trying to bring some sense to the crap you are apparently producing"

What did he do to you?

Back to the topic:
I have to say that I am all for both genders playing/enjoying Machines (among other video games), but I have to agree that most girls I have seen play video games both don't get into them, and don't have fun/get bored...maybe it's like genetic?

Title: Re: Gender

I am a male
how can we be sure .It could be that he/ she is actually a girl using a guys account or just a guy using a guys account heck we may never know ;anyway back to the main reason why this topic was started."WHY IS THERE NO GIRLS ONLINE ?"
but first I have to disagree with JUDAS on......." Girls just have different priorities. They just don't like games or techno-crap....." because there are actually girls who play games take for instance my sister who is at heart a die hard fan of GTA and any games that lets you murder, destroy and kill anything with any weapon, anyway she likes ,well she is this weird acception of a female who enjoys destruction at a grand scale and when most girls nurture and would probably care for the child in the SIMS she instead seals them in a room ,sets fire to it or watch and wait for them to starve to death ,saying things like they are waste of space and money .....anyway what I am saying is there are indeed those girls who are feminie and will indeed do as you say ,but there are some who are like my sister who likes a pinch of violence in their lives .
thus I have to agree with TOHOM who said "....I don't believe you took what I said the right way.
They seem to prefer immediate rewards, like blowing up a car in GTA, or making Sims go shopping...."
because my sister seriously does not enjoy RTS games and refuses to have anything to do with it .
Title: Re: Gender
Post by: nonohino on March 03, 2009, 03:52:27 pm
I agree entirely. :-) In responce to your first responce, how can we be sure that you are a boy or a girl. We cant but then again assuming when you say "girls" and refer to them as girls or them, then it natural to assume you are male. If you get what i'm saying.  :|
So it just seems that girls probably play games all the times but may just not say, or may disguise themselves as boys. lol

erm, so does anyone have a definite reason?

I agree it seems that guys and girls are almost exactly matched. Guys do better in some areas of life, while girls excel in different parts. I think its unfair to say that one sex is better than the other, but why the hell are there no girls on here?
