Development / Sourceforge Page and Forums
« on: December 28, 2012, 03:00:26 pm »
Greetings, everyone. As most of you know, OpenMachines has had a Sourceforge.net page for quite some time that we use to upload and download changes in code and other files. Sourceforge allows for the creation of your own page on their website, including a wiki, forums, and access to Mercurial, which allows us to manage our code across computers and update to a database.

Read more about Mercurial SCM here.

To better organize discussion, I started up a set of forums specifically for the development assistance of OpenMachines. We can still do everything we do here, but with more control and connectivity with the project itself.

Adding onto this, some people have had trouble creating accounts and getting into these forums, and we need the control over the forums to avoid this. Keep in mind that not everything is going to be a permanent decision, and we always have the possibilities of changing anything.

Before getting started, you'll need to create an account on Sourceforge.net, and visit the project file here.

Upon reaching the project page, there should be a dashboard with an icon for the link to the Home page, the Files page, the Discussion page, and the Code page. The forums are located under the Discussion tab.

Development / OpenMachines Ideas
« on: September 07, 2011, 10:13:49 pm »
Ground rules:

For early versions, nothing will change core gameplay in any way. This means no new units, no new weapons or abilities, anything like that. However, ideas/drawings are accepted for items such as these.

Keep the ideas cosmetic and aesthetic only for the most part, any game-changers can be saved until the core remake is complete.

Ideas are appreciated for levels, control schemes or maybe skirmish gamemodes, things that might improve the core game without changing it.

OPENMACHINES DEVELOPMENT AREAS

Some of you know we are working on a project called OpenMachines. It is a game powered by spring engine that is meant to renew the original game, Machines. You can check it out right now on the Develpoment Page. I upload the blog with progress every now and then. Although we are working on the game, we do not have a member for absolutely every area. These can be completed, however, we can surely use help from other experienced members. Here are the basics of who does what. Please note that Apex- is of course hosting wiredforwar.org and dev.wiredforwar.org.

Thanks for reading, and make sure to post below if you want to apply for any of these jobs.
Currently, the most importance of the empty jobs is on Unit Textures.

Voices will be filled for each unit as people step up. We will be using old voices until we create new ones.

If I'm missing something, let me know. Thanks.

News / Throwback Entertainment
« on: July 31, 2011, 02:22:30 pm »
So, some of you have probably read about Throwback inside of the Wikipedia page for acclaim. For those of you who haven't, they're the company that bought at least 150 titles from acclaim. Now on their site, they show some of these games. From what I understand, Throwback buys the rights to very old games, and then has people request a remake. Clever name, huh? They may or may not have bought the rights to Machines, and I'm hoping they haven't. What they do is buy the rights to old games, and then have people request a remake. Machines sounds like a pretty interesting concept, doesn't it? FPS + RTS? Either way, copyright law is annoying. If someone wanted to remake Machines or make Machines 2, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to name it Wacky Robots With Tractors And Legs, just because another stupid company went and bought the game. Company info is here. If Anyone knows if they have or have not bought machines, please post it below.

News / Hamachi
« on: August 24, 2010, 08:12:01 pm »
Okay, this is unfortunate, but, I've lost control over the hamachi servers... again. Those still work, but I've created a new one that is not to be filled with random people/interwebz creatures. So here is the controlled new hamachi server:

SERVER NAME: WiredForWar.org

SERVER PASSWORD: Go here: http://forums.wiredforwar.org/index.php?topic=2070.msg22209#new OR PM me if you are unable to.

News / New-er Hamachi server
« on: February 03, 2010, 06:56:45 pm »
I got a message request for maybe kicking someone for space, but you know what that means to me.

               NEW      HAMACHI

                  :holy: SERVER :holy:

SERVER NAME: Wiredforwar2
PASSWORD: machines

Now, don't be an idiot and put your account in there if you'll never respond. Pay attention to the disappearing hamachi icon down at the bottom right of your screen for IM's. (If you have a message it will do that.) Alright, have a nice life? Or day? Or machines match?

Support / Disk 2 ISO
« on: December 19, 2009, 10:01:44 am »
I'm sure anybody who has messed with the directory has probably figured out that machines was programmed to use a file of the correct name in a specific area.
In other words, If I modified the texture of the builder constructor, it would only change him because the file is named the right way.

So, to get to the point, I was wondering if anybody knew what the music folder and files in the original iso (Tangible Discs) are named.
If I knew them, I'm sure I would easily be able to put the music back in.

To sum it up, what was the original name of music files in the machines disc 2 iso? I would like to put music back in.

OffTopic/Fun / Super Smash bros. Stages
« on: March 14, 2009, 06:50:29 pm »
I made this thread to post stages and informational videos you download to your Wii to use the stage. I made my stage for a game I called "Pikminball." The Rules are:
1. You can do 3 or 2 player; for 3 player 1 guy stands at the top part, and 1 guy in each small platform (bottom platform is just there). For 2 player, 1 guy stands in each small platform.
2. If the pikmin goes through the opposite platform (may not go under or above) you score a point. The person who did not score serves next.
3. It must be on Special Brawl, Reflect mode.
4. All players must be Olimar
5.Do not kill pikmin, only reflect them

The stage and video are in attachments. (If you are confused be sure to watch the video.) Download stage and video to Wii with SD card. (Or Wi-Fi connection)  :-)

OffTopic/Fun / Super Smash Bros. Brawl Replays
« on: March 09, 2009, 06:03:40 pm »
I understand you cannot get bin files for replays to work even with a converter, so... I wanted to make a thread or something where we can show replays. As in you put them up and another person downloads them, puts them on an SD card, and plugs it in their Wii. (or downloads directly from Wii with wi-fi)

If you do not know what super smash bros is, then I'll tell you... It's a game where Nintendo's all stars fight in battles and many other modes. There was one for the 64, GameCube, and Wii.
