BioShock is a first-person shooter/adventure/action RPG for the Xbox 360 and PC. It is the spiritual successor to System Shock 2.

If you've never played System Shock 2, then you are missing out. Though it looks like butt and plays like you're driving a bulldozer it's pretty good horror game.

Anyway BioShock as been in development for some 3 odd years. It's based sometime in the 1970's, I presume. A group of scientists after WWII decided that the world was pretty gay and they wanted something better. So they created the underwater utopia of Rapture. In Rapture, if you don't like how you look or sound, you can modify yourself with Plasmids and do all sorts of crazy stuff like shoot bugs and fire and all.

Well anyway, Rapture's government eventually dissolved and the city fell into decay. You had to fight to survive. Many, if not all of the inhabitance, lost their humanity to the Plasmids and become nothing short of monsters. The city was lost to the world above. That is until a plane you were on crashed and you were forced to take refuge with Raptures walls. Then it gets bad.

From this point on you have scavenge for Atom, the worlds currency, ammunition and Plasmids. Now, in order to get Atom, you have to either search one of the worlds many stores, fallen foes, or these little girls known as Little Sisters.

So right they she is. She goes around with a needle taking Atom of the corpses in Rapture, swallows them, climbs into her vent, and then does something to make it Atom. Now the thing is, she isn't alone in the world. Oh god knows she isn't. Meet Mr. Bubbles, the Big Daddy

This boi is so impossible to kill without the right firepower (we'll talk about that later) and he defends the Little Sister to the end. In fact, you can't touch them until the  Big Daddy is dead. After that, you can defend the Little Sister, take the Atom, or just leave her be. It's all up to you.

Now like I was saying about Plasmids. They can do some crazy stuff. But each time you use them, you loose a bit of your humanity. You can beat the game without them, but it's hard. With them, you can set fires, electrocute, cause insect swarms, control security cameras, what ever. It's once again all up to you.

Hacking the security in another big thing in the game. You walking into a room with 2 Splicers and a Houdini (2 types of basic enemy's you'll see), and then there's a ground turret that try to kill you. Well all you have to do is turn off the turret, hack it, and now you have a .50 caliber ally. Or you could use the Security Beacon Plasmid on the enemy's and you don't gotta hack jack squat, and just let the turret do it's thang and run away.

Right so weapon modding. In this game you gotta gun it up to survive. You start out with an old 6 shot revolver and that's pretty cool, and all, but it's weak. You can go around and pick up parts to turn you pistol into a crazy automatic monster killer machine. You find treads and motors and all sorts of odd stuff, combine them with your weapon, and then you're set. There have been 5 weapons announced plus some odd Plasmids. All of them are modable.

Okay so that's about as good of a summary I'm gonna give. Here, however, are some awesome videos of the game.

OffTopic/Fun / Courage the Cowardly Dog (TV Series [Image Heavy])
« on: April 29, 2007, 09:34:49 pm »
We interrupt this program to bring you...
Courage, the Cowardly Dog show!

Courage the Cowardly Dog was a show started airing in 1999 and was created by John R. Dilworth. The series itself was spun off of a short clip done by John called The Chicken from Outerspace. Though it wasn't intended to be such, this short turned into the shows pilot.

The show circulates around Courage the dog, Muriel Bagge, and Eustace Bagge who live in the middle of Nowhere, Kansas (The Middle of Nowhere :v:). The show is all about how Courage must save his new family from the various creeps and such that seem to be attracted to him. During such mishaps, he will often dress in odd ways, such as Carmen, and a potted plant. Often, the problem is resolved completely, but sometimes, such as in the case of Katz, the villain gets away and comes back eventually and tries to do whatever they're doing again.

Courage Bagge
Courage is always the first to recognize what exactly is going on, seeing that he is extremely paranoid for one reason or another. He is extremely protective of Muriel and sometimes Eustace. If there's a problem, he'll solve it.

Muriel Bagge
The loving old woman who took Courage in when she found him abandoned as a puppy. She likes to bake, and plays the sitar and awful lot. She, for what ever reason, is very loyal to Eustace, even though it seems like he could care less about her.

Eustace Bagge
Apparently, he's a farmer, though he never grows anything on purpose throughout the show. He is very cold, and hates Courage with a passion. He'll often scare Courage with his pop out eyes, or large green mask, seen here.

English and a bit of a prick. He's always there to lend an unhelpful hand while Courage looks for information on head expanding diseases and waremole cures.

Katz is the closest thing Courage has to a nemesis. He is the first official villain introduced in the series, and appears in many episodes. He loves games. When ever he is about to defeat Courage, he offers him a chance to walk away by beating him in challenges such as tennis, blinking contests, and racket ball.

Dr. Le Quack
Le Quack is the second premier villain in the show. He is introduced after Muriel is stricken with amnesia. He is a gentleman thief and "master of disguise." (Note the mustache?) He is also very very French.

The Duck Brothers
Not much else to say. They are 3 duck brothers from space who have a nasty habit of laying eggs. A fun fact about them, how ever, is that they were voiced by Ringo Starr of The Beatles.

Shirley The Medium
Shirley is an old Gypsy ChiWawa rat thing that is neither good nor bad. She acts in her own interests, sometimes causing Courage and his family trouble, and lots of it.
Freaky Fred
Muriel's nephew. A very crazy, creepy barber who is very... NAUUGHTY. He reappears once or twice more through out the series, but not much else. This may be one of the most well known/ memorable episodes of the entire series.

Big Foot
Big feet. Though he appears only once through out the show, he is one of the funniest characters if only for the fruit scene.

The Hunchback of Nowhere
Ugly as all get out, but really nice. He likes shadow puppets and playing the bells. He is seen only once throughout the series, but he is a great great character.

Asian Genius
Well he is Asian. He shows up as an extra in every other odd episode. He also turned Courage into a fly but stated he was "Surporsed to be buffro".

The Military and The General
Seen many many times through out the series. The General is also seen as the police chief in some episodes.

The Brain Alien
Car broke, phone yes? This little guy is looking for a kindness gene to make his race more perfect.

Mr. Mouse
Mr. Mouse is the most radical guy from the entire show. He is seen often, doing simple things like driving trucks, or punching things. Often greeted with "Well thanks, Mr. Mouse!".

Bushwick (Schwick)
Schwick is a big freaking roach. He lures Courage and company into his apartment and forces Courage to run a small errand for him.
Schwick's name is Bushwick, and he is from Bushwick (New York), so he just goes by Schwick.

Doc. Gerbil
Awesome episode. Doc is a vacuum salesman, or so it seems. He soon sucks up Eustace and Murial and brings them to his lab to conduct some freaky experiments.

Evil Weevil
Big assed fly. When hit by Eustace's truck, he come back with the family and begins to eat them. He is a real gentleman.

The Last of the Starmakers :smith:

Freaky Fred

Human Habitrail

Tribute to the Villains
Fun Facts
Dilworth, the creator of the series, often put his name (DIL) on household appliances throughout the show, such as vacuums, drills, and other doo-dads.

Courage only talked in full coherent sentences (often, that is) in the first season. After that, he just mumbled and danced.

OffTopic/Fun / 23 Girls Kicked out of Sorority for Being "To Ugly".
« on: February 28, 2007, 02:39:51 pm »

Quote from: Article
Worried that a negative stereotype of the sorority was contributing to a decline in membership that had left its Greek-columned house here half empty, Delta Zeta’s national officers interviewed 35 DePauw members in November, quizzing them about their dedication to recruitment. They judged 23 of the women insufficiently committed and later told them to vacate the sorority house.

The 23 members included every woman who was overweight. They also included the only black, Korean and Vietnamese members. The dozen students allowed to stay were slender and popular with fraternity men — conventionally pretty women the sorority hoped could attract new recruits. Six of the 12 were so infuriated they quit.

“Virtually everyone who didn’t fit a certain sorority member archetype was told to leave,” said Kate Holloway, a senior who withdrew from the chapter during its reorganization.

What in the world is wrong with society, where it gets to the point where you can be kicked out of a sorority for being to ugly? That says a lot more about todays culture than I'd like to admit. And imagine how the girls who got kicked out felt.

OffTopic/Fun / Street Sharks (Television Sereis 1998)
« on: February 26, 2007, 08:43:30 pm »
Street Sharks!

Totally Jawsome!

Premiss/ Plot Summary
Street Sharks is a show about 4 brothers, once human, transformed into the perfect species, Giant Shark Men, by the evil Dr.Piranoid, who captures them, and conducts experiments on them and their father, Dr. Robert
Bolton, a once accomplice of Piranoid turned monstrous fish thing. So now, they are obligated to fight Dr. Piranoids evil monstrosities, like the Giant Shrimp man, or the Huge Swordfish beast, and keep Fission City safe.

Good Guys
John "Ripster" Bolton (Voiced by Lee Tockar)
Possibly the smartest of the three brothers, John loves pool, and his hog. He becomes "Ripster" the Great White Shark after being injected with the DNA.

Robby "Blades" Bolton JR. (Voiced by Andy Rannells)
The token "cool brother" so popular in the "mutant animal" '90s. Blades, or Streex, was the funniest, and in my opinion, most outgoing of the brothers. Always getting into shenanigans. He was only called Blades in episode 1-3. He is a Tiger Shark.

Coop "Big Slammu" Bolton (Voiced by D. Kevin Williams)
Coop loves sports, and is seen in the first episode lightly tapping a goal post, and then said goal post simply flies into oblivion. He is transformed into a Whale Shark (Shamu, Slammu, get it :q:!).

Clint "Jab" Bolton (Voiced by Matt Hill)
Clint is the lazy one. He lounges around all day, and seems to have no interests in physical activities other than boxing. He is a Hammer Head shark.

Dr. Robert Bolton (Voiced by David Kaye)
Dr. Bolton is the father of the 4 brothers, and was once a lab partner of Piraniods. He is only seen in the first episode, in which, he is transformed into some unseen beast.

The Bad Guys :argh:

Dr. Piranoid (Dr. Luther Paradigm) [Voiced by J. Michael Lee]
Dr. P is the main villan in the show, and is easily identified as such with his insane rants, and eye patch. He is seen in the first episode when he injects the boys in a red shirt, black pants, and an over coat. But in the second episode, his is in battle ready armor. In a freak accidient, however, Dr. P is injected with piranha DNA, and becomes piranha like if highly agitated.

Slobster (Voiced by D. Kevin Williams)
Slobster was one of Piranoid's first experiments. He is a "gene slammed" lobster, and is now angry and huge.

Slash (Voiced by Terry Berner)
Slash was a sword fish untill gene slammed to become a huge fish man with a golden drill bit for a nose, which he used to fight and dig.
