Strategies / Re: Anyone need help on any of the Campaign levels?

My strategy for the final campaign level was instantly build an advanced combat factory, build a Judas warlord, use lots of saves and capture as many enemy machines as possible. It's very difficult, but it's possible if you have the patience.

The Game / Re: Am I the only person here who does not like Gorillas?

I think Gorillas can be good provided they don't get swarmed by smaller units - for attacking lightly defended bases they can do a lot of damage if used correctly. But for all their heavy armour they are easily taken down if you're not careful. I think they're best piloted in first person if you're going to send one on its own.

The Game / Re: Least Favorite Machine

I chose Medic Commander for my least favourite. They heal at a slow rate, they have one pulse gun and, from memory, they move at a mediocre speed. They're OK for healing units in peacetime, but in combat they're just useless in my experience.

My favourite machine is a toss-up between the Assassin Warlord and the Judas Warlord. Once my base is up and running, and pretty much self-sufficient, I like to pilot one of these machines in first person mode and either wreak havoc or steal half the enemy's forces. Many a campaign mission of mine was won thanks to a warlord. Of course, they're not the be-all and end-all by any means, no machine is, but for my particular style of playing they work the best.

Hi all,

My name's Ben Lauritson, I've been playing Machines since I was in my early teens. First played the demo of it and thought it was brilliant, eventually my Dad bought me the full version. It's always been my favourite RTS, although I've recently misplaced the CDs so I thought I'd do an internet search to see if Machines is available to download, and lo and behold I arrived here. It always used to sadden me how little attention this game seemed to get, but it's nice to see there's a community of others who have also had the pleasure of this game.
