maybe this idea its bad for all but if you want to make a new machines why dont you put other type of resorces such as gold or things like that, maybe gas for  a new type of machines. :clint:

That's way to AoE: Modern times. BMU's are comfortingly thoughtless. Building Material Unit, doesn't get much more straight forward.

Source Code doesn't allow new resources

It's BMU's, no way to change it

I can change his suggestion, you can make a BMU mine that mines BMU's. Also it would be very cool if you would get diamond mine which mines 5xBMU's or maybe an infinite number of BMU's. :holy:

Well, I can edit the amount of BMU's in the mines. 99999 is max I think

But it's not as much fun as you think :)


I could create a King of the Hill map. Only 5 mines(4 small ones, one in the middle)

The middle one has 99999 BMU's, is invincible, mines uber-fast etc. The 4 smaller ones are just that, small mines(1000BMu's)

Now, send in transporters to grab BMU's. And battle it out for resources!

heh, Judas, how you edit maps ? for example the colour and the sky ? and can you upload some textures on the map or minerals ? or change the CPU's tree of research and it's Machines ? :smilydude:

Edit maps(Add/Remove units/buildings): Download my Mod Tools with Sloik's client or search for it on the downloads section on the forum. Follow the instructions. (Extract by clicking Extract.bat. Put back together by clicking Load.bat. Select the new file, rename to mach1.met and put in Machines folder. Crash or you want to revert? Put in the Back-up or use Sloik's client)

Edit maps 2 (Change Color and Sky): Go to \Acclaim Entertainment\Machines\models\planet\[Map Name\]texture2
For example, m_gracko: Edit the Landscape tiles to edit the landscape's color(only color, not shape or units etc)

edge1_b.bmp - Small Cliff. Upper part is high. Lower part is low
edge2_b.bmp - Same as above. However, this one seems to connect the lower/upper sections

grnd1_b.bmp - Ground Plate 1
grnd2_b.bmp - Ground Plate 2
grnd3_b.bmp - Ground Plate 3

rcorn_b.bmp - Corner in the Smalll Cliff. Seems to be connecting hi/lo too

rokfco_b.bmp - Larger Cliff or Rock Wall. I think the last
rokfc1_b.bmp - Larger Cliff Corner or Rock Wall Corner. I think the last

sky_b.BMP - The Sky. This will be slapped unto a large dome shaped object. So the left and right will meet, and the entire top part will meet. The lower part will not meet/connect.

sun_ba.BMP -  Parts of the sun that are colored
sun_bc.BMP - Color/Image of the sun
sun_bt.BMP - Shape of the sun

moon_ba.bmp - Parts of the moon that are colored
moon_bc.bmp -  Color/Image of the moon
moon_bt.bmp - Shape of the moon

Upload textures on maps or minerals
Sure. Well, it's something different. It's a scaled map. One Pixel on the .jpg image is one Machines Measurement Unit (Metre or PIE)

For example: open m_desert.scn (Can be found in the .met file. Use the tools to extract it, open "data" folder and open the .scn file with Notepad) and you see something like

Site 1 is the objects name(BMU Site)
10500/7500 etc is the amount of BMU's
815/705 is the X Axis (Left/Right)
799/975 is the Y Axis (Up/down)
29.9344/29.9422 is the rotation (But that's nonsense and can be ignored.)

Now you can use the map to draw dots to see where the mines are.

Change the CPU's tree of research and it's Machines ?
Getting real Hardcore here. But okay, if you want to.

(RESEARCH)
Open a .rsi file. All the missions have their own.

(Skirmish missions use "fulltech.rsi" "lowtech.rsi" "medtech.rsi" "hightech.rsi")

All.rsi contains all possible things to research. This is not used ingame

RACE ALL
or RACE BLUE or RACE BLUE RED is used to tell for what player this research table is.

MACHINE or CONSTRUCTION is used to tell what is researched. CONSTRUCTION is only used for Ion Cannon.

RESEARCHED or NOT is used to tell if it's researched or must still be researched. if a Machine is not on the list, it can't be researched.

AGGRESSOR, GEO_LOCATOR, ADMINISTRATOR, RESOURCE_CARRIER, APC, TECHNICIAN, POD are all TYPES
Agressor: Scout, Grunt, Warrior, Reaper, Wraith, Knight, Templar, Heav Assault(Gorilla, Crusader, Eradicator, Goliath)
Geo Locator: 3x Geo Locator
Administrator: Commander, Commandant, Warlord, Assassin
Resource Carrier: 5x Carrier
Apc: 3x Apc
Technician: 3x Tech
Pod: Pod

(3x means 3 heights of skill.)

1/2/3/4/5 is the LEVEL. Very important! Always double, triple check to make sure this is correct. Otherwise game will crash and it's awful having to search for a single number.

Aggressors:
Scout(Grunt) is lvl 1, Grunt(Grunt) lvl 2. Warrior(Grunt) lvl 3
Reaper(Assassin) is lvl 2, Wraith(Assassin)  lvl 3
Eradicator is lvl 3, Crusader is lvl 3, Goliath is lvl 4 (Ballista)
Knight is lvl 4, Templar is lvl 5  (Knight)
Gorilla is lvl 5 (Ninja)

Locators: 1,2,3
APC's 2,4,5
Transporters 1,2,3,4,5 (3 is scavenger)
Technicians 2,3,5
Builder 1,3,4,5
Pod 1

Administrators:
Wasp(Boss) is lvl 1, Bee(Boss) is lvl2
Commandant is lvl 2, Commander lvl 3 (Overseer)
Warlord w Missiles is lvl 4, Assassin Warlord is lvl 5 (Commander)

SUB
Used if a Sub-type is used

Subtype
GRUNT, Assassin, Ballista, you can find them in the list above.

WCOMBO
Weapon Combo - Unchangable

L_ELECTRIC_CHARGE
Biggest annoyance and hardest to get mistake-proof. It's Unchangable. You can't give a scout a gorilla punch by editing this.



Now. With that info you can change what the enemy/you can research.

Now the build order.

Quick reminder
.spl contains the AI. Leave them alone for now. I'll teach them to you later
.scn contains the Object locations. Units, Mines, Buildings, Objects etc.
.rsi contains the Research List. What can you research, what can't you research?
parmdata.dat contains the most info of all. What damage does a unit do? Leave it for now, or read my tutorial if you can't wait. It also contains the research COSTS.
zenith.dat contains the camera settings. Max Zoom Out and In etc.

In the planet folder you can find a file called ".env". Edit this to change the day/night cycle. Much fun!
In the same folder, you find a file called .psf. Open this. Do some math (Tile size * Planet Size Length and Tile Size * Planet Size Width, and you have your specifications on how big you must create your Scaled map!)


BUILD ORDER
Open factory.bld with notepad. Edit what buildings you want to create what units. A Light Units Factory creating Crusaders? Easy. Cut the Crusader and paste it between MILITARY 1 and END MILITARY 1

Military 1 is LUF
Military 3 is Advanced Unit Factory
Military 4 is Airborne Factory
Military 5 is Heavy Assault Factory

Civ 1 - Light
Civ 3 - Advanced
Civ 5 - Super duper thingus

Now, that was easy! But it's not the buildings-build-order.

Open global.cst.

Read explanation.

First field is Dozer
Second is Constructor
Third is Behemoth
Fourth (Starts at Beacon 3) is Titan

Done! Or wait, NO!!

Exactly, not yet.To be completly done you need to edit PARMDATA.dat. Open it with notepad. Search for "CONSTRUCTOR DOZER" or "TYPE CONSTRUCTOR BUILDER" or "TYPE CONSTRUCTOR BEHEMOTH"

Edit the lines(example)
MOST_ADVANCED_CONSTYPE         MISSILE_EMPLACEMENT
MOST_ADVANCED_CONSSUBTYPE       SENTRY     
MOST_ADVANCED_CONSLEVEL         LEVEL_4
to what you want to be the most advanced. Search the files to find all the correct names. It's a 30min job to find all the names, but well worth the effort.

Now your done!

And I have edited damage,speed,variable in plasma, buildings(not to build nuke) etc many times, so I'm not so green as you think :wink:
