As said before in this thread you could really up the tri count on these things. 2000-3000(possibly higher depending on the building) is fine for a building seeing as there won't be as many of them as units. You could also go all out and model every tiny little detail then just bake a normal map from it onto a lower poly version. Would also help if you whacked a specular on there.
