How do we get official? Some other guys in (if I'm not mistaken) Canada just own the machines "rights," so we can't legally claim to be official machines anything. We would have to make the spring version in order to call ourselves official owners or whatever of machines.

Some guys in Canada own the rights?...
Whaddays mean? =/

Throwback Entertainment claimed to have bought 158 of acclaim's game titles. They have a list of some of them on their website, but machines isn't on that short list. I tried emailing them asking them for a full list or if machines was on the list, but they wouldn't respond...   :argh:

Well, looks like the 'new' Acclaim threw in the towel, as well...

Wikipedia:
On May 19, 2010 Playdom acquired the company.[3] Three months later, on August 27, and almost six years to the day that Acclaim Entertainment went out of business, Playdom closed Acclaim Games[4] The 9Dragons game was sold to GamersFirst, with all other games being discontinued.

Just as a... quick intermezzo =P

No. I joined because I was wondering if this site would answer some of my questions on how to get the machines demo working on my computer. It says something about reference memory.

Why considering a demo, when you can get full version easily?

Yes, that does sound enticing to say the least, however, if I am unable to get the demo running, then I am certain that the full game will not comply.

That's kinda our goal. We're planning on re-making Machines through SpringRTS. Willing to help? Hop on!

Perhaps you should consider making the Machines demo playable in a browser. For instance, the game Minecraft is playable in a browser and arrived at about the same time as Machines.

I'm having a hard time trying to bring my browser-game to life as it is =P

Maybe just a small demo, but when the demo is a crappy version, and not an actual demo (dungeon fighter, for example) it just makes it worse. Also minecraft arose about 2009, not 1999. And it still sucks in terms of performance, and I think that's partially because it runs in java, which is why it can run in a browser.

I enjoy the demo more than the 'real' game. It is more challenging and at least the computer sends machines and doesn't use it's nukes to fight. But, maybe that is just me...
