I think it started with VOTS not wanting to be a part of the Machines remake.

I didn't say that =P

I suppose I'm just... slightly less enthusiastic than... say, a month or so ago.
Remember when being a Wrath Reaper was badass? Those were the days. . .

Why??

Wanna know? Machines is like a... constant in my life... I mean, most of my life is, like highly interested in Machines - Somewhat less interested in Machines, I suppose I'm in the less interested part right now.
Don't worry, this'll return =P I mean, I never had this with anything else yet. Machines is a (forgotten) gem (as we all know). As I said, I'd help with anything right now, just know that I'll have a lot more initiative when my interest returns =P I apologize if that may seem 'lazy' to you let me assure you ;)

Also, I may sometimes tend to put grammatical errors in my posts. This normally doesn't happen with me, but that's solely because I connect to the forum using my Windows Mobile =P

VOTS I totally understand you and I think I'm having the same "lazy-times" as far as Machines is concerned :(

For a while at some point in time the only reason I posted was because I wanted the forum to live, but for some reason I didn't actually want to play machines. I think most of us tend to get this feeling  :megamonocle:

Well, all that matters is we're the only hardcore group of fans who want Machines seen as the BUTT-KICKINGLY AWESOME game it really is.

Here is our (mostly Machinesrocks' blog) on the progress. http://dev.wiredforwar.org/index.php/devblog/

I've only been here for a couple of months so don't take offense.

Are the machines speedier in the Spring videos or the maps just small?
It also looks like their pathfinding has been improved too, cause before when they are told to move while they are already moving, they have to stop completely before moving to the new point.

Ask Machinesrocks (now called Automatic) that because I only make some models. The scout is supposed to be speedy but, I think the 1st transporter is also going to be a fast machine too.

If you can, try to learn texturing because the models are white and it would be helpful.

I can answer that:
The speeds aren't the same as the original game as of now, because we're not focusing much on that right now. We just want them to actually move, shoot, build, etc. and later we can fix the speeds.
The speeds probably can't be the same numbers as the original, because the difference in engine will likely read those numbers differently, and so the scout might look too fast or slow compared to his size. We just have to make sure that the speed difference between scout and mule (for example) is the same between games.

Pathfinding is just better in spring engine (for the most part). We didn't do anything to change it  :-P
Unfortunately, the pathfinding only makes up for the stupid fps mode, which we'll probably end up recoding. :argh:

The maps in spring are usually giant. I plan on locking the screen so the player cannot scroll out too far, similar to the original game. The machines are currently moving quickly compared to the original machines because a variable has just been tossed in there. Once we have most units completed, we'll focus on balancing the game. Currently I'm trying to get most types of units working. Aircraft, builders, factories. One of each of those are currently operational. However, animations etc... will need tweaking once the units are completed. Check out the dev blog, I will be updating it every now and then.  Also check out the OpenMachines channel on youtube. I'll be uploading videos of progress every now and then to keep the public updated.

We're going to need to edit the spring first person shooter mode. It's not even maintained by the developers.
