3D video card
« on: November 04, 2005, 01:36:16 am »
Hi guys, I decided to break out my old P200 with Win98 to see if I could get Machines running on it.  The game starts up with sound but nothing on the screen.  I have updated my DivX and double checked everything else, but I'm wondering if the ATI Rage II video card I have isn't powerful enough to run it.  Of course I tried running it a second time and now I'm getting a error warning. Damn. I haven't played in years.

But DivX has NOTHING to do with machines.. DivX is too new for that ;)

Turns out the game did start. It just didn't show the opening scenes. After I hit enter a couple of times, up popped the menu. The game plays slow, but it works. I bought a new video card, a ATI rage XL (8Mb). Now I can see the opening credits and screens, but the game freezes up. Damn. Maybe the 64k EDO RAM is the problem. I have 256k SDRAM on its way right now.

Heh heh. Cool stuff.
Ask me anything about Machines and I'll try to answer! I don't have the source code anymore. No idea what happened to it...
