Machines 2 Dev - Choosing the Programming Language & Engine
« on: March 07, 2007, 06:13:14 pm »
Hey, here you can share your professional opinion about the Engine & Programming languages

If everybody agrees with C++ and Orge then we're settled. If you do not want these things, why?

I personally think you would be better off "just getting on with it" - some of the ideas I've posted about what I think you could achieve and do first - and then show that as a technology showcase. Multiple threads with a vs b vs c kinda matricies kinda lose their impact after a while.
Ask me anything about Machines and I'll try to answer! I don't have the source code anymore. No idea what happened to it...

There's no way of getting on with it if nobody knows what you're getting on with.

Language depends. Naturally, I think we should put it in english because that is the most known language, and because I live in America. However, there are many people from different countries on this wired for war, so maybe you should check out other languages that they speak? After all, not many people besides the wired for war members will try Machines 2.

Please let us use English and not Americanese. Please.

I think it will be easier for us to do all the coding in English (because that's what most of us understand... right?) and then make language patches to just modify the language used ingame if required.

I still have my original Machines disks and manual....

I think we all knew that, apart from Amin :P We WERE trying to make his stupidity less obvious and carry along by making his post a bit more relevant, but you ruined it for him :P

Everything in english.

But if you want a different language we should make language folders/files, in which al the strings + sounds are, so that you can easily mod it to your own language :D

They set us up the Bomb :O

Actually I do disagree slightly :)

Somebody could (unilaterally) just start getting on with stuff. This thread almost proves my point :)

Tee hee ignore me!

Um... Americanese? As in the horrible slang that has slithered its way into natural society? That's not what I was referring too...

No, I was referring to Americanese as in your stupid "color" and "flavor" and everything else.

It's spelt colour people!

As long as Firefox and Openoffice don't underline those words red, I'm OK.
