Throwback Entertainment
« on: July 31, 2011, 02:22:30 pm »
So, some of you have probably read about Throwback inside of the Wikipedia page for acclaim. For those of you who haven't, they're the company that bought at least 150 titles from acclaim. Now on their site, they show some of these games. From what I understand, Throwback buys the rights to very old games, and then has people request a remake. Clever name, huh? They may or may not have bought the rights to Machines, and I'm hoping they haven't. What they do is buy the rights to old games, and then have people request a remake. Machines sounds like a pretty interesting concept, doesn't it? FPS + RTS? Either way, copyright law is annoying. If someone wanted to remake Machines or make Machines 2, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to name it Wacky Robots With Tractors And Legs, just because another stupid company went and bought the game. Company info is here. If Anyone knows if they have or have not bought machines, please post it below.

Why not telling 'em about Machines anyway? They might fall in love with our game and would recreate it :)

Nice way of making my hope flare up for a moment. It's worth trying.

EDIT: I get this when I open up the website...

Hope you made an error in your post... I don't get anything while googling for it, neither...

Odd. http://www.throwbackentertainment.com/index.html , try that. They have a contact section too, I sent them an email asking if they bought that rights to machines.

Yup, site seems to be fixed, now.

And I'm afraid they didn't buy it... I don't see it on the list... Why would they when it's not on it? =P

Worth trying to try and convince them, though...

Email them a question on their 'contact us' option. I am pending a reply.

I doubt they will be likely to answer to (or more) of the same question...

These people are sly. They like to wiggle out of this question. If more people inundate them with questions they are bound to answer. (or they could turn of the asking option)

Meh, we still have people, and if they wouldn't randomly leave, we could easily work on it. And throwback is a pile of horse poopie. If anything I'd rather have them not re-make it.

EDIT: If you didn't read through my whole post, I said they bought over 150 acclaim titles. ("158") They only show some games.

EDIT2: We should spam them for not replying to any emails.

Yeah, this place is getting to be more active. I think the reason throwback is bad is because they probably never played the original game so they miss the point/feel.

True, dat. They must've at least played some of their golden classics to justify their reason of being founded! (they probably don't/barely know about Machines, though...)

They probably went and picked the 150 best sellers out of acclaim. (150? They probably bought the rights to those games for like 50 bucks.) I don't think machines will have interested them much, but the concept is coolio. Machines didn't really get good sales.
