OpenMachines SFX / Music
« on: September 13, 2011, 12:43:50 am »
I'll keep the thread updated with sound effects and music as I create it, also use this thread to suggest ideas for sounds (and music).
I'll update OP with links to any and all things I put online.

DOWNLOADS:
Alpha hitsounds, pt1:
http://www.filedropper.com/omsoundspt1 - Bolter and Autocannon sounds

AUTOMATIC: I knocked these together as placeholder unit selection / confirmation sounds until we know what's going on with the voices: http://www.sendspace.com/file/orv862

CURRENT WORK:
I'm currently working on a shortlist of sounds for Auto, to get a working pre-alpha to use as a demonstration.

http://soundcloud.com/jgrovesportfolio/ms-track2-sept-2011-test/s-csiRv - A WIP track, probably going to use 0:41 onwards and little else before then

http://soundcloud.com/jgrovesportfolio/seedship-alpha-wip - a test track, perhaps for a trailer, intro, credits or something else dramatic.

http://soundcloud.com/jgrovesportfolio/om-musicsketch-2c/s-1Cdah - another WIP track, tell me what you think

http://soundcloud.com/jgrovesportfolio/silicon-psychosis - MOAR MUSIC

ALPHA SOUNDS

scout with bolter
scout with disruptor
grunt with bolter
grunt with disruptor
warrior
plasma reaper
autocannon reaper
plasma wraith reaper
autocannon wraith reaper

CIVILIAN FACTORY
dozer constructor
builder constructor

1st mine (no transporters yet)
Autocannon turret
Advanced Military Factory
Enforcer plasma
Enforcer bolter
Knight plasma
knight bolter
warlord

Heavy Assault Factory
Crusader

PLANNED WORK:
More music
The rest of the sounds

COMPLETE:
None (officially) yet, all current sounds are pre-alpha or placeholders

Every unit here: http://forums.wiredforwar.org/index.php?topic=8259.msg31619#new needs a fire sound and a hit sound.

For music perhaps 1-2 tracks for first release.

Look at his post again. He only made sounds for those units. I'll listen to them later on when I have a computer with sound.

Not made, makING (and even then it's only base work on two weapons). Also, I just copy/pasted Auto's list into the OP so I can strikethrough the ones I've finished, as I've finished them. For alpha playtesting purposes, until we know if we can use the original voices or not, or until new ones are made, I'll just make some generic bleep / bloop sounds for command affirmation. Done and done, link's in the OP.

Is there a way of ripping the music from the intro video that you get on the demo version?

You mean the music from the same intro video of the full version? =P Dunno... Find it in one of your folders (dunno where, exactly) and convert to .mp3, although it's possible that you'll get loss of quality this way.

Intro video on the demo? I thought that the demo had no cinematics?  :?

What music are you talking about? Take a look at the games vemail and look using that.

No, he probably just means the music in the intro video (aka the trailer on youtube).

It's possible, but there would be nothing I could do about the encoding quality.

Why, that would be a little problem. I'm sure you can do something about it

Actually, no. That's the thing about bitrate(and extension) conversion. You lose quality when you convert from higher to lower, as well as lower to higher kbps.

In this case, however, you don't have a choice, seeing as the music isn't in .mp3 or .wav.

Couldn't have put it better myself - it's like baking a cake, once it's baked then you're never going to get the ingredients back, you'll have to like it or lump it the way it is.

It's like baking a kat. The kat belongs on the burger and even if you try, you can't have the kat not go on the burger.
