Very cool track, something sounded like it could have... I'm really not sure how to explain. Pretty much at the second part, it sounded like it could have "rocked out" a bit more. Not really "rocking" out, but just a little more interesting. Sounded very nice though.

Why, that would be a little problem. I'm sure you can do something about it

Actually, no. That's the thing about bitrate(and extension) conversion. You lose quality when you convert from higher to lower, as well as lower to higher kbps.

Couldn't have put it better myself - it's like baking a cake, once it's baked then you're never going to get the ingredients back, you'll have to like it or lump it the way it is.
Couldn't you just keep the recipe so you can make the cake again if you messed up the first time?

Indeed. In this case the 'recipe' would be knowing exactly what equipment, software and techniques were used to make that track, and I don't have that, in fact, it's probably long lost.

Even if I had that I wouldn't have the equipment, samples and software that the project files used.

Well a project file in LMMS keeps all the instruments etc. together, and lets you use the same ones and all. What program are you using, FL Studio?

Actually, yes. That and Audacity to master the files when I need to.

You would have the audacity to master yourself.  :-P

Also, what does "mastering files" mean

Also, what does "mastering files" mean

'Mastering' is the final process of putting a song together, generally after exporting each instrument separately as a WAV file, it's brought into another program to get all the levels (and equalization for each instrument track) just perfect, before combining it all into a single MP3 or OGG or whatever. It's only really done for the final 'official' track, since it would take to long to render every test and demo like that.

Well a project file in LMMS keeps all the instruments etc. together, and lets you use the same ones and all.

I have about 60-80 gig of synth software and samples on this machine alone, it's fairly common practice. Exporting a file with the instruments in wouldn't work, since the instruments are separate programs handled by the DWI (in this case FL Studio)

EDIT:
Also, why am I now down as 'Elvis'? I just caught sight of it and burst out laughing. :D
