It could work out to be mutually beneficial.. though I think they'd be a lot more useful to us than we'd be to them at the moment (eg. compare how active the communities are).

Could be. Personally I just don't like getting swallowed up by other teams/companies. :-P

But it seems those guys are not that interested anyway, else they would have contacted somebody from the dev team or written something on the forum.

If they want to help, they can, but I'm not in a position to join someone else's game studio at the moment. I'm sure we could cooperate and work on the same project. I'd actually love to.

Merge is compromise. we have to see what each party would give up, but before that we need to see if this merge becomes more than a suggestion.
Entire communities are hard to merge; much harder than corporations. Example: there will always be people playing counterstrike 1.6 and original dota allstars. The sequel makers couldn't force the communities to move to the next games in unison. They just didn't want to play a different game, not even a sequel.
As slow (lazy) as we are in making openmachines, it's probably better that our wfw community stays together improving our game, rather than making someone else's game, with our consolation and support.
